MY HUSBAND BUILT A GARDEN
SMALL AND QUIET PLACE
HE WORKED AND SLAVED FOR HOURS
HIS PAIN SHOWED IN HIS FACE
HE TOILED WITH LOVE AND LAUGHTER
AND NEVER MOANED, (NOT MUCH)
I WILL LOVE IT EVER AFTER
FOR IT HAD HIS LOVING TOUCH
IT’S NOT WHAT SOME WOULD YEARN FOR
NOT STATELY GRAND OR ROYAL
BUT HE PLANTED GRASS
AND BUILT A WALL
AND FILLED IT UP WITH SOIL
HE BUILT A SMALL PAGODA
AND BOUGHT A LOVING SEAT
AND NOW THAT IT IS FINISHED
MY SPECIAL DREAMS COMPLETE.
